Thematic Similarities in Chinese and Pakistani Literature
The two days long International Pak-China Urdu Literary Conference on “Thematic Similarities in Chinese and Pakistani Literature” held from July 28th and 29th, was a highly significant step towards bringing the Pak-China literary worlds even closer and opening new vistas for literary and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The last day’s first session was presided over by literary icon Intizar Hussain. Pakistan Academy of Letters Chairman Dr Qasim Bughio threw light on goals and objectives of the conference. Literary papers were read by Muhammad Hameed Shahid, Dr Abdul Aziz Sahir, Nasir Abbas Nayyer, Jami Chandio, Dr Shahid Iqbal Kamran and Chinese speakers.
The second session, which was interactive, was presided over by Dr Qasim Bughio and the third session by Dr Syed Qasim Raza Pirzada, an educationist and a poet. Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture director Dr Sughra Sadaf, Pakistan Academy of Letters Regional Director Asim Butt, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Amjad Islam Amjad and Kishwar Naheed were also present. The conference concluded on a poetry sitting in which eminent Pakistani and Chinese poets participated.
